The Pilot Corporation is a publicly traded Japanese brand headquartered in Tokyo that manufactures and distributes high-quality writing instruments and stationery across the world. Subsidiaries of the company are located in United Kingdom, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Russia, Singapore, Sweden, United States and Australia.
Founded in 1918 by Ryosuki Namiki as the Namiki Manufacturing Company Ltd, Pilot was chosen to be the trade name of product. Early branches were opened in New York, London, Shanghai and Singapore in 1926, and the company grew with the worldwide distribution of goods being obtained by Alfred Dunhill in 1930.
The company changed their name to the Pilot Fountain Pen Co. Ltd in 1938, ang in 1989 changed to their current name, Pilot Corporation.
